 This year, he managed to secure those resources by incubating The China Business Network - which is managed by a veteran of business who came to upstate New York directly from two decades of building foreign-invested businesses in Shanghai . The China Business Network is a technology start-up; it's also the reason co-founder and CEO Janet Carmosky hung up all the hats she gained during those many years in such as sourcing, technology transfer, strategy consulting, private equity, retail, systems integration, and PR. Instead, Janet is building a business to address her pet peeve: "There's no work for 'China Hands' in the , and at the same time, American businesses who need expertise have no idea where to start looking. The need for an online, indexed, and searchable community in this space is huge." While she and her team build the technology, branding, and operations for the company - basically Match.com for business professionals - they needed low-cost office space.

  LinguaLinx's beautifully renovated HQ in Cohoes fits both Carmosky's need for a great space and Smith's desire to get a hand in-house.   

  Smith says it's working out well. "Janet personally vetted our translation resources during her trip to last month, and now she has a LinguaLinx new business team lined up and in action." The China Business Network is happy, too. Although "HQ" is in the Capital District, the company has a second cluster of people in Los Angeles and a Shanghai-bound Project Manager. "All my LA people are still working from home and after seeing our LinguaLinx set-up in Cohoes offices, they're pretty jealous.”
