Welcome Jamie Semerad, Receptionist

At LinguaLinx, words and languages are our business and our passion. Our success depends having a team of great people behind our work! We like to show you a little bit of who we are. When you call LinguaLinx at our Troy, NY headquarters, you will be greeted by a new voice – Jamie Semerad! Jamie joined our team in October 2017 as our new receptionist. We sat down with Jamie during the first month and chatted about her new role, what she enjoys doing outside of work, and what she is most looking forward to. Read Jamie’s bio and get to know the voice on the other end of the phone.

Welcome! What brought you to LinguaLinx?
I have always had a love for languages and trying to figure out how to help break down barriers in between cultures. Translating between languages is one huge way we can help. During my first visit to LinguaLinx, everyone was so caring and genuine and I knew I wanted to be a part of that community too.

Before working here, how much did you know about the language translation industry?
I didn’t know too much about it. This is my first experience in the industry.

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?
I enjoy hiking, spending time with my niece and nephew, and playing volleyball (both beach and indoor).

What do you like most about Upstate New York?
Fall in Upstate NY is unlike any other place. It lasts long enough to visit the pumpkin patch, apple pick, and see the leaves change colors.

What is your favorite place you’ve traveled and why?
There is a small city called Hamilton in Ontario, Canada. It is right on the water and has so many attractions downtown, yet it still feels quaint.

Tell us one random fact about you.
I recently went parasailing and skydiving, both for the first time and both in the same week…parasailing on Lake George and then skydiving in Poughkeepsie (NY) from 14,000 feet.

If you could speak any language – what would it be and why?
I would speak Greek because that is where half of my family is from, and I would love to connect with my roots.
